Conservative commentators saying it’s a bad Trump move to pull out of talks, or Trump’s fault that the stimulus package isn’t passing, are missing the point totally. Clearly DC thinking versus real world common sense.

Thread...
Democrats are not negotiating in good faith. The goal post has been moved several times. Every ask has been something that they know Republicans won’t or can’t agree to because it extracts a massive pound of flesh.
Best example is the Dem ask for 1 trillion in state and local funding. At most state budget shortfall is 250 bn.

The 1 trillion would go directly to public sector unions, aka the Democrat Party.
Starting back in July the Dem ask of continuing $600 enhanced benefits was done knowing that this could keep the unemployment rate high going into the election.
Ditto for the Dem ask on Mail in Balloting. This is something Republicans could never fully agree to (and when they agreed to fund the post office more the goalpost shifted again).
According to DC-think, Trump throwing up his hands and saying “They are not negotiating in good faith guess we’ll have to wait until after the election” is a bad move.

In real world common sense it is a great move.
Now Trump can hit the trail and talk about how the Democrats were being unreasonable. Notice how when Joe Biden brought up the stimulus negotiations at the last debate Trump did not respond... No longer.
Saying, “These people are crazy they are purposely not trying to do a deal before the election” will work.

And no deal was always better than a bad deal.
