1/4 Next week marks Baby Loss Awareness week. In 2020 we still find this a taboo subject and just last week a celebrity was slammed for sharing photos of her stillborn child. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, still birth or neonatal death.

2/4 If we’re not comfortable discussing this difficult subject, we isolate and ostracise grieving parents. I am the 1 in 4. On this day, 14 years ago I became a mother to my first daughter. She lived for 11 days and I refuse to be ashamed or afraid to say her name.

3/4 I will share photos, I will talk of her and yes after all these years I will at times still breakdown. She is my shadow child, the child who is never with me but is always with me. She shaped who I am today in so many ways.

4/4 Miscarriage, still birth, neonatal death are a confusing mix of joy, pain, trauma, life, death, heartache and pride. Life that was a moment, love that is a lifetime. #BLAW2020
