NEWS: The President, after a call with McConnell/McCarthy and Mnuchin, has put an end to the stimulus negotiations between @SpeakerPelosi & @stevenmnuchin1 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1313551794623127552
Treasury Sec. Mnuchin and @SpeakerPelosi were scheduled to speak again later today.

Stimulus negotiations are officially DEAD, per Pres. Trump's direction
To make a few things clear: Mnuchin/Pelosi weren't on the verge of a deal. There were still big outstanding issues and a lot of Hill GOP frustration.
But they were making some progress, slow as it was. Today was a pretty big day in their talks - with a key call @ 3:30
No clue if they were ever going to bridge the biggest divides (state/local, UI, etc) Have been pretty skeptical for awhile.
But they were definitely giving it a shot and there was a landing spot...if both sides decided they wanted to get there.
The President's tweet hit while House Dems are still on their caucus conference call.
Members I'm talking two are stunned.
Pelosi doesn't say if her call w/ Mnuchin still happen (Seems unlikely!)
Would also note that there was certainly a way for these talks to fail w/out POTUS defiantly putting an end to them on Twitter.
Sure gives frontline Dems, who were *very* frustrated about lack of a deal, something to point to the next 28 days
Everyone saw Fed Chair Powell’s remarks today, and he’s made them privately (but cautiously) to both Mnuchin & Pelosi, I’m told. But I think folks will be pointing to this headline a lot in the months (maybe years) ahead:
. @SpeakerPelosi response: “Clearly the White House is in complete disarray.”
