self care is pog obvsly + necessary on occasion but I feel like it& #39;s worth considering how much that language has been used by already successful people and like random teens who don& #39;t pay bills to try to convince an entire wave of artists we don& #39;t actually have to work that hard
which is hard not to receive as tonedeaf at best and actively subversive using friendly language to indirectly kick ladders out at worst? like bro it isn& #39;t cool feeling but you do in fact have to spend way more time working than your friends w/ regular jobs nd no serious projects
I was doing 70-80 hr weeks between a warehouse nd yt and it sucked and I wanted to die but having random bluechecks who already got the bag telling me I actually didn& #39;t have to try was a ZILLION times more insulting than being whistled at like a dog by reps to load their trucks
idk just something I think abt a lot and I really really don& #39;t want to undermine the importance of taking breaks but like bro please do not let these ppl who alrdy made it and minors w/ wifi nd no context of monetary struggle commodify how tired u r nd then use it to slow u down
anywys my bad if this comes off as like boomer-y or in any way callous or anything!!! I promiiiiise like I promise I get it nd I take breaks nd slack off too nd it& #39;s good to!!! but like idk I just feel like u owe it to urself to scrutinize who is encouraging u to try less nd why
btw this thread wasn& #39;t like in response to anything or anyone I just woke up thinking abt it lmao I just noticed a person I really admire had tweeted abt something similar to this re: work and ppls relationship to it like around the time I made this thread and I had no idea !!!!!
