It& #39;s horrifying and shameful that in some cities folks need a 98th-percentile income to create a secure, comfortable life for themselves and their children.

I grew up in this social class. Many folks in it are LEGIT terrified that more taxes will mean economic insecurity.
But it doesn& #39;t work like that. If we improve the safety net, upper-middle-class folks don& #39;t need to fear taxes, because those taxes won& #39;t be taking away their security. They& #39;ll be providing it to everyone.
The trick is figuring out how to present that fact to the media-gatekeeper class, who are VERY MUCH embedded in the social mileu of the scared near-rich.
