The fashion icon Iris Apfel said “Color can raise the dead!” Well the rare bird of fashion has it right, and Bay-Baaaay, compared to this collection by @cjrtheperson even Ms. Pantone really could nevuh! I literally had tears of joy in the corner of my eyes.
I can’t even get my analysis together I’m so overwhelmed by the beauty and glamour of this collection because as with his previous collection, I needed an usher! 🤣🤷🏿‍♂️😭💜💯 Every season CJR proves that color is life and this gives life to fashion month.
NYFW was over weeks ago, and some said it is dead and buried. Nobody on fashion Twitter seems to be having much fun w/ Paris. Thank God CJR and team have decided to not leave the Gworls totally in vein and have given us something to live and love for in October.
It’s like CJR said to industry “Lazarus, come forth!” and for the second season in a row American fashion is arisen (I’m so dramatic, I know, but it’s truuuue!) And it’s all due to the collection of its newly crowned winner of the CFDA Award for Emerging Designer of the Year.
What I loved most is that even with all the color and prints, the details and craftsmanship of the garments are so evident. And when the looks are in cream, black or red, it is even more accessibly so, you can seen all the details so clearly.
It’s like when I was in math class as a kid and the teacher said “show your work,” this collection is CJR showing its work. The dualities of distilling down to essentials that don’t shy away from embellishment is a total upending of minimalist vs maximalist binaries.
This collection’s vocabulary and the emerging house codes are carving out a space of possibility that embraces both as a way to tell us more about CJR. The exuberance was palpable in every look. The ten posted in this thread are my faves.
