I’ve accepted that because I’m not a white, conceptually attractive femme presenting Deaf: I get less attention, appreciation, interaction on social media, more easily ignored, my advocacy is pushed aside to make room for more white folk and it’s really depressing as a
Deaf person to know that as a Deaf and a BIPOC person that experience is intersectional and it’s ignored and purposely pushed aside to make room for the White Deaf experience or the White Pretty experience
BIPOC Deaf Awareness and Advocacy is even MORE important and y’all would rather contribute to approbation and racism and ignorance than follow BIPOC intersectional folks holy shit
White voices will always get more validation, advocacy, attention, support, followers etc but in the Deaf community all of that is pretty much exclusive to White Deaf voices only. Fucking sad
