Frustrating ineffective finger-wagging: "People just have to change their behaviour," [Mayor John] Tory said."

These high rates of speeding, 85% of drivers on some streets, are due to bad design. So, #VisionZero redesign: "make the lane width match the design speed that you want," @JessSpieker said. We could solve the shameful, horrendous fact that cars are leading killer of our kids.
Toronto's #VisionZeroTO 2.0 plan says, "human life should be prioritized over all other objectives within all aspects of the transportation system." If our politicians REALLY believed that, they would act IMMEDIATELY on any street that sees 85% of drivers speeding. #SafeSystems
What concrete things should politicians do? Support #VisionZero design: narrower car lanes, build protected (dutch) intersections and cycle tracks, build curb bump-outs at crossings, tighten turn radii, left turn calming measures, add leading pedestrian interval at all signals.
The best way to save lives is to
motor vehicle speed to something safe, sane, survivable. @Love30ca All those design changes actually work (unlike ignorable paint and speed limit signs signs) because they naturally get drivers to slow down a bit and pay attention.
