Went to Mass and on the way back had the radio on and caught a Biden ad. And here& #39;s the deal: if Biden wins it will be because people fell for a rather clever rhetorical sleight of hand. What it does is get you to mentally think that "slow the spread" is "save my life."
It is the central thing of Biden& #39;s campaign: "be afraid and I will save your life". Which is ridiculous because "slow the spread" merely means "you& #39;ll get it, later". You will catch it; you may already have. Everyone will catch it. Those doomed to die of it, will die of it.
There is no way around this: unless a nearly 100% effective vaccine is created, we cannot remove a virus from the population. It is highly unlikely that we& #39;ll have any vaccine for this kind of virus that is that effective. So: you will catch it.
Biden& #39;s team knows this. All the medical experts do, too. But Biden needs you thinking that he will save you from it. And so his ads are pitched with that sort of rhetoric, and heavily targeted at seniors who are highest risk of dying. He& #39;s lying, of course: its all he ever does.
But for Team Biden the only test here is if the lie works: will it convince an electoral majority that re-electing Trump works out to "I will die"? If it does, then Biden wins - and he& #39;ll win rather big. Fear is a great motivator.
Trump& #39;s counter to this was unveiled yesterday: "Be not afraid!". And the MSM going batsh** about it shows how effective it can be. Fear is a great motivator: a call to bravery is an even greater motivator. No one wants to be thought of as a coward. But, also, Trump is right.
