Wow this is just... a bad take all around https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😬" title="Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Grimasse schneidendes Gesicht">

Like, absolutely—don’t rub your love of hp or the person whose name is on those books into a trans woman’s face

OTOH—telling an ~entire~ fandom that they have no merit and need to switch to loving something else is IGNORANT AF
Is fandom problematic? YEP NO QUESTION

Is fandom also delightfully subversive and RICH WITH TRANS CONTENT? FUCK YES

I just... as a trans person in fandom, transphobia is fucking exhausting ~AND~ so are people punching down on fandom and fanfic.
“Find something else to love” is such a weak bs thing to say. It suggests that there’s a perfect canon out there, one with no transphobia and no racism and no ableism and no fat shaming and no misogyny and no victim shaming and just no bigotry of any kind...
... & maybe there is but, I gotta say, I’ve never seen it

& what about trans fans of hp who have written some ~gorgeous~ fic in hp fandom? you’re saying their work has no meaning / value cuz r*wling is a shit?

talk about not being the progressive person you think you are https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😒" title="Unerfreutes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Unerfreutes Gesicht">
Also... the OP I’m qt’ing at the top of this thread goes on to bash the OP she’s qt’ing with “‘I read some children& #39;s books and then never grew up& #39;, imagine saying that proudly.”

I’m not excusing the O-OP but I am saying that’s not ~remotely~ what was said
those books were a gateway to FANDOM where O-OP learned about shit and started unpacking it.

I’ve been on that journey—I ~STILL AM~

and this kind of bad-faith misrepresentation isn’t helping ANYONE
