lyrics from fine line that are extra loud: a thread
full disclosure: i’m a larrie.
i want to make it clear that h himself has said songs can be interpreted in many ways so this is just my personal interpretation and lyrics that hold a specific meaning to me.
golden (released lyrics only):
“i know you were way too bright for me”
“you’re so golden”
“...of who i am and all i’ve ever known”
“loving you is the antidote”
“i know that you’re scared because i’m so open”
explanation:
in the early days especially, louis was constantly the one who was loud and had all the attention on him, he was bright and bold like the sun. their relationship is the only one he’s ever known, so louis is the only person that h knows the way he does.
(cont.)
louis is also far less open about his sexuality than harry is currently (and no, a tweet from 2012 isn’t enough to prove he’s straight) and while that could be the fault of outside forces or a lasting effect of being shoved into the closet for a decade, who knows.
adore you:
“walk in your rainbow paradise”
“i get so lost inside your eyes”
“like it’s the only thing i’ll ever do”
explanation:
rainbows are an obvious gay symbol, so this could mean being with you is like being completely and totally comfortable with my sexuality and my love for the opposite sex. fetus harry also had a staring problem, and as a e know by the whole louis blue thing he has-
(cont.)
-a thing for louis’ eyes. lastly, the whole song is about the initial feeling as you’re falling in love with someone and it’s an all consuming sort of thing and it looks like h is feeling like whenever you watch videos of him interacting with louis in the early days.
falling:
(the whole song to be honest but here’s some of my favorites)
“forget what i said, it’s not what i meant”
“what if i’m someone you won’t talk about?”
“i’m well aware i write too many songs about you”
“we’ve run out of things we can say”
explanation:
apart from the whole song having parallel lyrics to track 6 on walls, they’re also extremely loud. the whole song is telling the story of a fight/breakup and it’s just overall a sad song with sad lyrics that match his mortal enemies song almost exactly.
to be so lonely:
(again, the whole song but here’s my favorites)
“don’t blame me for falling, i was just a little boy”
“don’t call me baby again”
“it’s hard for me to go home”
“do you think it’s easy being of the jealous kind?”
explanation:
harry fell in love with louis when he was 16, which is super young to fall in love with someone and have it last. i think the whole song is about a drunken phone call louis made to harry (the guitar even sounds like a phone ringing) while they were broken up.
(cont.)
they’re each other’s homes, but at the moment harry cant go home and obviously harry was extremely jealous (hello interview where harry grabs louis’ knee right after the interview does it and hey harry’s glare when louis is on james’ lap) so that line is quite obvious.
sunflower, vol. 6:
“let me inside, wish i could get to know you”
“i’ve been trying hard not to talk to you, my sunflower”
“kiss in the kitchen like it’s a dance floor”
“mouthful of toothpaste before i got to know you”
“kids in the kitchen listen to dancehall”
explanation:
we know louis and harry call each other sun/sunshine bc of the snapchat video, so sunflower isn’t much of a stretch. the toothpaste lyric has always struck me as being about them moving in together so quickly bc of both xfactor and princess park after that.
(cont.)
dancehall is a popular genre of music in jamaica and jamaica larry is a whole thing. find that thread and read it if you haven’t already because wow. not to mention calling them kids.
canyon moon:
“so hard to leave it, but that’s what i always do”
“i keep thinking back to a time under the canyon moon”
“two weeks and i’ll be home” “...through paris all through rome”
“i’m going oh i’m going home”
“i’ll be gone too long from you”
explanation:
two week rule babyyyyy. i really think this song is about harry while he’s out doing stunts, he’s leaving louis and spends the whole time thinking about him. and again he mentions home (a development from tbsl where he says it’s hard to go home awww)
fine line:
(whole song but here’s the favorites)
“you’ve got my devotion, but man i can hate you sometimes”
“you sunshine, you temptress”
“spreading you open is the only way of knowing you”
“we’ll be alright”
explanation:
the fact that louis wrote a song called walls where he literally says they fell down for you (likely referring to harry) and harry is here saying that the only way to know louis is to spread him open? loud. like sunflower & golden, we have sunshine used.
