Just watched Moneyball for the first time

It goes further than baseball

Here are some of the best lessons from this classic:
1.

- Listen to Others -

GM Billy Beane listened to Peter Brand, a new guy in baseball

Brand found a new way of finding hidden gems using numbers

While Beane's scouts judged players based off reasons such as

- Age
- Looks
- Personality

Perception doesn't always match reality
2.

- Adapt or Die -

Everyone thought Beane was crazy for listening to a new kid

Their reasoning was this

"Are you going to listen to the kid who's never played or the guy who's been scouting players for 29 years?"

If you don't change, you'll get left behind...
3.

- The Last Game Matters More Than Records -

The A's won a record 20 consecutive games

Yet all Beane cared about was winning the final game

No one cares if you win or lose today

Focus on winning the long game - that's the one that matters
4.

- Be Different -

The A's had one of the smallest payrolls at $41 million and had to fight against teams with $125 million payrolls

There was no way they could go hand to hand against high rolling teams

He had to approach the game differently

You do too
5.

- Stop Looking for Homeruns & Start Looking for Base Hits -

Everyone wants to find the next superstar

While hundreds of "regular" players get ignored

Those players may not get you the big hit

They will be the consistently good players that get you base hits & wins
This is a great movie

Brad Pitt killed it

There are tons of entrepreneurial/investing/life lessons you can take this movie

Highly recommend watching it
