Iโ€™ve been drawn to wolves since childhood.

When asked what my favorite animal wasโ€”

โ€œA wolf!โ€ was always my immediate and enthusiastic answer

As a boy, Iโ€™m sure it was just because I thought they looked cool..

(keep reading ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป)
Now, as a man, I respect them for the incredible animals that they are

And Iโ€™ve learned there is wisdom we can gain by studying their habits

So without any further ado..

I give you:

Although weโ€™ve all heard of the oft romanticized โ€œlone wolfโ€

This is actually a fairly rare occurrence among wolves in the wild
When a wolf does go it alone, itโ€™s only because theyโ€™ve been driven from their pack or have yet to find one
Itโ€™s not a desirable position to be in.

Not for wolves, and not for men

Wolves depend upon each other for survival.

Wolves are highly social animals, and they live in cooperation with each other.

Together they hunt, raise their pups, defend their territory, and more.
They depend upon each other for success in life.

Humans are social animals as well, and similarly we will have the most success in life when we are surrounded by the right people.

Donโ€™t be a lone wolf.

Find a pack.

And choose carefully.

Wolves are highly intelligent

And they have a highly-tuned system of communication

They use barks, huffs, whines, growls, howling, and even body language
By these means they communicate to one another rules, intentions, emotions, and warnings

For humans, the importance of communication cannot be overstated.

To be successful in any area, you must be a skilled communicator

- Sales
- Writing
- Marriage
- Teaching
- Leadership
The list could be longer even

But the point is this:

Regardless of your goal

Regardless of your profession

Communication is key.

Learn to communicate well.

Just as wolves employ several methods to do this, so do humans
Good communication is about more than just choice of words

To be effective in communication, also consider your

- Posture
- Attitude
- Inflection
- Eye contact
- Tone of voice
- Hand gestures

This is not an exhaustive list, but itโ€™s a good starting point
To be effective and successful

Be a good communicator.

Life for wolves is rough

Every day is about survival

Hunting is not easy, even for wolves.

Wolves work HARD in order to survive and feed their pack
Every kill is the result of good communication, tracking, traveling, and a chase..

Wolves sometimes travel upwards of 30 miles in a single day looking for their next meal

Wolves are generalist carnivores.

Essentially this means they can eat anything with meat on its bones
This can range from something bite-sized all the way up to an elk

Although the biggest animals obviously offer the highest reward

They also carry the greatest risk.

Itโ€™s not uncommon for wolves to be injured or even killed while on the hunt..
Falling victim to a sharp antler or a heavy hoof.

Whatโ€™s perhaps most interesting of all

And also perhaps the best lesson we can learn here..

Wolves fail more often than they succeed.

However, with their very survival at stake each and every day
Giving up is not an option for the wolves.

Wolves are resilient.

With every failure,

They learn from their mistakes

And they persevere.

The lesson here?

Be resilient.

Persevere

Donโ€™t give up.

Failure is only a set back

Just as the wolves do..
Live as if your survival is at stake.

Ultimately failure is not an option

You may fail more than you succeed

But success is found in the not giving up.

If you donโ€™t quit

You canโ€™t lose.

Be like the wolves.

Be resilient.
