thread of how i think Time Lord gender works! (not tryna start more drama! idek if anyone cares about this, i just like talking about Time Lord gender & it makes me happy, i never really say stuff about it on main but i& #39;m tired of not talking about things just bc of cis people)
ok so in World Enough and Time, the Doctor says "[the Time Lords] are billions of years beyond your petty human obsession & its associated stereotypes". i like to think this means Time Lords don& #39;t use gender labels (like man, woman, trans, nonbinary, etc) for themselves at all
but obv if they want to then there& #39;s nothing stopping them! they& #39;d have to be really into earth culture to know about these labels, but the Doctor loves humans & never really fit in with the Time Lords so the thought of them trying out terms like nonbinary & pansexual makes me

anyway so i think all Time Lords are inherently genderless. they can have preferences for what type of body they like to have but i don& #39;t think it has anything to do with identity, they& #39;re just vibing. also they can basically be the human definition of trans; they can transition
if they& #39;d be more comfortable with another type of body, they can use only one set of pronouns or multiple sets or any, etc. it just wouldn& #39;t be labeled as being trans to them or anyone else on Gallifrey bc they just don& #39;t think about it like that
this brings up the topic of sexuality! every ship involving at least one Time Lord is inherently gay bc Time Lords are already genderless!! (i& #39;m kinda joking but also 100% serious dkdkjdjd) i don& #39;t think they label their sexualities either bc they already experience gender much
more differently than humans do & the terms we use for ourselves could never apply to them bc they can& #39;t understand how we see gender & vice versa. again, Time Lords who are really into human culture & want to use these terms are the exception! i think in general the Doctor likes
to call themself pansexual, but sometimes they& #39;re not comfy with that. like with Thirteen, ik me & a lot of others feel kinda weird about her being with a man (Dhawan!Master doesn& #39;t count, he is a Time Lord & thus is not a man) & i think she would vibe with being called a lesbian
ok i think that& #39;s p much it for how i feel about Time Lords& #39; gender in general, if i think of anything else then i& #39;ll add it later! so moving on to the Doctor & the Master specifically, i& #39;ve mostly seen people call the Doctor nonbinary & the Master genderfluid. i think that
nonbinary is the closest word that can describe the Doctor& #39;s gender, bc they just don& #39;t care about it. for the most part, you can use any pronouns or any terms (like king/queen/dude/sis/etc) & as long as it& #39;s being done respectfully then they& #39;ll be comfy with it. however, i don& #39;t
personally think genderfluid is accurate for the Master bc i view their portrayal of gender as entirely performative. like Missy presents more fem than her past regenerations that we& #39;ve seen & she uses phrases like Time Lady to describe herself. to me, this has nothing to do with
identity & is just her having fun with the way she presents. i don& #39;t think Missy would use he/him pronouns but wouldn& #39;t really mind, & all her other selves use any pronouns (the Lumiat using he/him hits differently

so like i said before, in general the Doctor doesn& #39;t really care what people see them as. Thirteen is kinda complicated bc while they do genuinely like being perceived as a woman, it& #39;s also very difficult for them to adjust to & causes what could be the equivalent of dysphoria
they were so excited in The Woman Who Fell to Earth when Yaz called them "madam" & in Spyfall Part 1 they refer to it as an "upgrade". but as we& #39;ve seen in other episodes, they& #39;ve expressed they& #39;re not entirely comfortable with it. they& #39;ve spent billions of years being seen as a
man & while they do enjoy the change, it& #39;s still hard for them. like in The Ghost Monument when they automatically call themself daddy instead of mummy, or in Demons of the Punjab when there& #39;s groups split into men & women & they& #39;re a bit confused about which group they should go
with, or in Spyfall Part 2 when they call themself a man & then mutter to themself that this happens "every time", implying that them forgetting most people see them as a woman now is an occasion that happens a lot more than we& #39;ve seen on screen. in my opinion, it makes most
sense that they& #39;d be most comfortable with he/they pronouns & masc terms. they still like she/her & fem terms, but it& #39;s just a bit difficult when they& #39;re p much Always being seen as a woman
think i& #39;m gonna bring this thread to a close now, stan the Corsair who uses they/them pronouns in every regeneration no matter what they look like!!!!
these are all my personal thoughts, if you have different headcanons then you& #39;re 100% valid!! i love talking about this topic & if anyone wants to discuss it with me, even if we differ in ideas i& #39;d love to talk about it with you as long as you& #39;re respectful!!!!
thank you for reading through all this if you did, stan our favorite genderless alien
