When arts and culture is viewed as a luxury, I think of funerals. Mostly at funerals, people talk about a persons love of: a sports team, a contribution to a community group, a choir, AmDram, their love of a pop band, playing an instrument, film franchise obsession (1/4)
what a laugh they were down the pub, how they could quote any line from that sitcom, how hard they they trained for that half marathon, their love of crime novels. (2/4)
They will mention their job, certainly if they had a particular passion for it but that can’t give the full picture of a person. It’s very likely someone will read a poem, or a song will be played to help mourners manage their grief, to remember their loved one happily. (3/4)
So when time is up, when you are, in fact, dead, this arts and culture stuff seems pretty important, don’t you think? (4/4)
