Here are a couple of tidbits that I couldn't fit in to our (already very long) article on the Budget:

1. Christmas Island will be reopened at a cost of $55 million to house "unlawful non-citizens who have been released from jail".
2. The maximum age of dependants allowed under Private Health Insurance policies will increase from 24 years to 31 years, and the age limit for dependants with a disability will be removed altogether. This will cost about $19.5 million.
3. The fall out from the bungled VET-FEE HELP scheme continues, with the Govt setting aside $11.9 million in redress for students who've been ripped off by dodgy providers. New applicants for this will close Dec 2022.
4. Not a penny extra for the arts sector, and nada for music.
6. The trial of the Cashless Debit Card is a trial no more. The Govt will provide funding for this on an ongoing basis. The cost? Your guess is as good as mine - it's been listed as "not for publication" due to commercial sensitivities.
