Yeah, it’s why I generally avoid uk feminist/women’s comics groups/organisations that don’t explicitly say they are trans inclusive, this country is so hostile to trans women that I just assume I’m not welcome unless told otherwise https://twitter.com/junodawson/status/1313414120465719301
Honestly? I find the whole “ladies/women’s comics” movement to be really weird in 2020, and wish folks would make an effort to move towards a focus in marginalised genders instead. At best you might get “women and nonbinary” as if Nonbinary people are an after thought
I dunno this weird aftertaste of riotgirl zine culture still hangs about where if you’re a white cis woman you get to be included in being oppressed but otherwise we will just ignore you and it’s regressive in this day and age
Like we need as a medium and as a communal space to acknowledge that trans men, and trans masc nonbinary people are
A) as excluded if not more excluded from all aspects of comics
And
B) are not women, but deserve to have help and support and comradeship
As a trans woman I don’t want to leave my trans masc peers to flounder, and I absolutely see how they are excluded and how the gender essentialist language that is at the heart of so much of the push for diversifying comics makes them feel excluded and hurt
Like you all can put cis men rather than men when you’re talking about shit that is caused by cis men, it’s not that hard to do that, I really hate how we ignore and throw trans men in with a group that often ignores and excluded them as much as they do us
