I don't know if this also applies to the UK but if so, I guess I'm also working poor.

It's wild that folks who earn over £27k per year are also in the richest 10% of the world though. You'd think it'd be enough to thrive but so many people struggle. Fuck capitalism. https://twitter.com/The_Acumen/status/1313129910815293441
I definitely can't afford to miss a paycheck & now I'm gonna be made redundant the little savings I have are gonna be decimated for the THIRD time in my life. 1st was for heart surgery. 2nd was having a mental breakdown, being forced out of my job & being unemployed for 9 months.
And the retweet is specifically talking about Americans, who live in fear of medical emergencies. Y'all. I lived through a medical emergency & even with the NHS it still destroyed me, economically. 3 months of statutory sick pay obliterated my savings & put me in debt to pay rent
And that was with a spouse to split the cost of rent and bills!! After my cash ran out it was ALL on my partner to pay for us to live. We just managed to stay in the apartment. Everything went on the credit card. I was lucky I had a job to come back to but stat sick pay is bunk.
