Well, this has been interesting.... Thank you to everyone who replied in good faith. And sorry if I missed your answer. FWIW, the majority of people replying who are on $140000+ said it wouldn't make a big difference to them and that the money should've been spent elsewhere.

Some said it would make a difference, eg. high ongoing expenses or supporting a number of people. Fair enough too. I'd just encourage those who honestly don't feel that a $140k+ income is high to reflect on the fact that for many Australians... it would be like winning the lotto.
