When myself & my team were in Liberia reporting on Ebola for 60 Minutes during the worst/biggest outbreak in history, almost every infection was a death sentence. Your chances of dying if you got infected were close to 100 percent. We had to throw away or burn everything we wore https://twitter.com/benstracy/status/1313146869573464064
at the end of every day. There were stunningly few survivors. In fact, each one was a miracle. Doctors at a frontline treatment center told us the drug they needed/used more than any other was Valium - the moment of death was so horrific & their was nothing else they could do.
COVID has killed too many and is very serious, especially for those at high risk. But I take a measure of comfort in knowing the odds are the opposite of Ebola, with a survival rate closer to a hundred percent - as opposed to almost zero.
