A positive Persona 3 thread.
Persona 3 is a game I hold really close to my heart with it being one of the first Megaten games I've ever played. The social sim mechanic and the mix of RPG mechanics were absolutely brilliant and is one of my favorite games of all time. So let's start off with...Some positives
Persona 3's strongest area is most definitely it's characters. Stories about getting stronger and stories about getting over the death and revenge are present in this game and it handles them pretty well for the most part. It tackles themes are are dark and serious basically.
And I love it for this. It carries the vibe that the two future games will have but it also carries the atmosphere the last two games have. It's a perfect mix. One second everyone is happy and celebrating their victory and the next second someone is crying their eyes out after--
Seeing a friend get shot down. You can never tell who's gonna die or who's gonna live in this game until it happens. And when you do know when someone's gonna die you desperately want them to overcome it or just stay with you for a little longer...
A character I love a lot is Aigis. Her story about becoming human is just one of her many developments. Learning that you should stop looking at the past and be happier as time goes on. She's the most well written in the game and it sucks that alot of people reduce her to-
"Toaster waifu". The social links in this game are beautiful too. You've got a social link exploring a story about Chihiro, a girl growing and getting rid of her anxiety around men. You've also got a story about helping an old couple get over the death of their son.
The old monk Mutatsu and the social link about Akinari are even bettet. The old Monks social link for example displays a theme of the game perfectly. Cherishing the things
And people that are close to you the most because you never know when theyre gonna be gone. The monk had split from his wife and son so he began spending his nights in a club drinking and wasting the rest of his alive alone. Until you come along to help him out of his depression.
The game is hit or miss and when it it does either it does them hard. The gameplay on the other hand is a bit strange and takes some getting used to. The party members in this game are self controlled so you can only use your character. This can be bad for some people but it's
Something you can easily get over. Fans of this game complain a lot about it but it's not that serious. By the time you reach mid game you'll be able to one shot a lot of enemies since you've probably grinded a lot. The bosses will hammer into your mind that you need to be
Either stronger or on equal grounds with them. Some bosses don't even have weaknesses and they hit like a truck. But even so the game manages to still be fun and entertaining. New attacks and animations, bosses with unique patterns you gotta follow and more. It's just fun overall
Another thing I absolutely love about this game is the music. The music produced by lotue juice, Shoji Meguro, and Yumi Kawamura. Yumi being my absolute favorite. Her voice was Awesome but man the music Shoji Meguro put in this game is top notch. Especially the music he put in
The Answer. Mass destruction got updated, the tone of the stroy is much darker here and it's the peak of Persona 3. Just listen to this
Every song in this game is a bop and I used to think a majority of the songs were good but didn't match the vibe of the game. I was wrong. These songs DO match the vibe of the game and they invoke the feeling of what is feels like to be in highschool. It's nice
To top it off the game looks absolutely beautiful for a PS2 game. Every scene and every moment is accompanied by a perfect background and song choice from Shoji Meguro. It adds more to the game.
