When, for one reason or another, a single player ends up having control over two characters in the same #dnd
campaign:

(HUGE DISCLAIMER IN THREAD BELOW)
HUGE DISCLAIMER:
If you actually play two characters in the same campaign and they *are* actually romantic together, then as someone who's very grateful to have a campaign/group who'll let her do that:
HOLY shit don't beat your playgroup over the head about it, be respectful...
... and don't steal the spotlight. How we've been doing it in the campaign I'm in is that literally any time my two characters are alone together (or even just alone with an NPC for something inconsequential) we just move on, and then I (maybe) write a detailed version later.
I toss it in our Discord, they can read it if they want, and if they don't they don't and it's fine. My DM will summarize it if necessary (like, last session, it was legit plot-relevant that JUST the two of them shop for material components, so my DM briefly said what they got)
and that's basically it. They've had a few very small romantic interactions with each other "onscreen" (a cheek kiss here, leaning against each other for emotional comfort there) but I try to limit it to a sentence or two, then my playgroup (rightfully) teases me, and we move on
Running 2 player characters in the same campaign can be *super* fun and it's a roleplay challenge, but also, like... you HAVE to be respectful and careful about it, especially if other players only have or want one character.
(btw I'm just gonna assume you have DM approval...
... you would not get this far otherwise). I expected there to never be any plot-relevant overlap between my two characters, just switching between them and having them share downtime - but my DM has been surprising me here and there with what he's let them both be there for

... which is really rad, and has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Two of the four other players also have 2 characters each (so yes, there are 5 of us but we have 8 PCs in the campaign) and that helps a lot, too.
At the end of the day, play D&D however you want...
... just be VERY careful and respectful to the other players at the "table" (digital table because of covid).

This has been a very long explanation of a very stupid meme, and before you ask, yes, the rest of this thread DID take way longer to make than the meme itself
oh if you're curious, #4 was Sam Riegel with Scanlan and Tary in CR1, and #5 was Travis Willingham with Grog and Bertrand in the Search for Grog/Bob oneshots.
sorry i don't watch any other d&d shows, yes i KNOW the adventure zone is good, but i'm a writer with 0 time for podcasts
YES I DID DELETE THIS ENTIRE THREAD THE FIRST TIME AND REPOST IT BECAUSE I ACCIDENTALLY CROPPED THE MEME, YES I DO HAVE A COMPUTER SCIENCE DEGREE, WHAT'S YOUR POINT???
