. @hydroquebec has over 32 TWh of electricity surplus and doesn't know what to with it...
That infuriating statement is a massive proof of their incompetence and the biggest failure in terms of #bitcoin
adoption for Quebecers.

Almost 3 years ago I debuted my first entrepreneurial journey by opening a small #Bitcoin
mining farm along with 3 other friends that I knew from College and High School.
We started as what can be considerer a modest mining operation.
Our startup was called Mining X.

Our startup was called Mining X.
We were installed in a once booming industrial district called ââLe Quartier de la modeââ in MTL. It is now plagued by vacancy and crumbling infrastructure.
There was a sense of pride to run such a technologically advanced business in a district that otherwise felt pathetic.

Of course, this is nothing compared to the enormous mining farms of today but it an honest debut for 20-21 years old like us at the time especially that we invested our own capital.
As we started filling our farm with the first few dozens of machines, the ââMoratoriumââ imposed by the provincial government of Quebec, the RĂ©gie de lâĂ©nergie and @hydroquebec was announced.
We were stopped in our run and could not fill up the place and make it profitable even though the electricity we needed was already available in our building.
We thought there was something to do and naively, we assisted to the audiences of the RĂ©gie de lâĂ©nergie.

This is were we saw vividly passionate and real people like @eprefon and @jhamel fighting for entrepreneurs like us and trying to resonate with the stupid and backward bureaucrats from the RĂ©gie.
Just look at RĂ©gie's website.. it doesn't even have an english traduction...

These are the people along with @hydroquebec to which it took more than 2 years to understand how Bitcoin works and ''authorize'' mining on its soil.
After long deliberations and months of analysis, they authorized a tiny amount of energy to be exploited by miners.

The damage was already done and the vast majority of the mining interest disappeared and went elsewhere were such burdensome procedures aren't applied as soon there are new business opportunities.
Props to @Bitfarms_io, they had excellent lawyers and are still operating in QC.

Good job @hydroquebec ! You're just realizing you missed the single biggest growth and prosperity opportunity of all time.
Feeding the enormous machine that is #Bitcoin
!
Now suck it up as Quebec's economy crumbles!
