1/To every person who laid in a hospital bed, scared, alone, breathless, proned: I am sorry.
To every family member who stood in a parking lot outside a window of a loved one, hoping that they would know you were there: I am sorry.
2/To every musician who has struggled to survive for the past 7 months, isolated from your community so that people's lives can be saved: I am sorry.
To every caregiver who is balancing work and online learning: I am sorry.
3/To every health care worker who cannot sleep at night because you saw such horror in the hallways and on the wards: I am sorry.
4/To every person on the phones who talked to a breathless patient who waited at home until their oxygen was low enough that 911 would actually pick them up to take them to the hospital, where they still were not admitted because there were no beds: I am sorry.
5/To every person with trauma who developed covid19 and was afraid to hug their child even after they were no longer contagious: I am sorry.
To every black and borwn mother separated from her newborn for 10-14 days after birth out of an abundance of caution: I am sorry.

These and so many other sacrifices because our president refused to lead, refused to acknowledge the horror of this disease and come up with a plan.
all pales compared to his dismissal of the horror of this disease bc it didn't impact him in the way that it has impacted us.
