TR in Egypt, 1910...
So after deciding not to run for a third presidential term, Roosevelt decides to just & #39;chill& #39; and goes on a safari to East Africa and, eventually, through the Nile Valley. In June 1910, he gives a speech in Cairo:
This speech DOES NOT go over well. lol. With Egyptian Nationalists and with the British whom Roosevelt accuses of going & #39;soft& #39; with their colonial rule. This excerpt from the Daily Mail basically sounds like Damien in mean girls where Roosevelt "doesn& #39;t even go here."
Meanwhile in al-Ahram, they& #39;re like so if Roosevelt said get out if you& #39;re not gonna rule Egypt, then that means...
Teddy comes back to the US. There& #39;s an entire song written about people being happy he& #39;s back from encouraging imperialism and he later reflects on his role of helping to & #39;civilize& #39; Egypt.
