What does Teddy Roosevelt have to do with Egyptian Nationalism? As it turns out, some.

So after deciding not to run for a third presidential term, Roosevelt decides to just 'chill' and goes on a safari to East Africa and, eventually, through the Nile Valley. In June 1910, he gives a speech in Cairo:
This speech DOES NOT go over well. lol. With Egyptian Nationalists and with the British whom Roosevelt accuses of going 'soft' with their colonial rule. This excerpt from the Daily Mail basically sounds like Damien in mean girls where Roosevelt "doesn't even go here."

Teddy comes back to the US. There's an entire song written about people being happy he's back from encouraging imperialism and he later reflects on his role of helping to 'civilize' Egypt.
