I know that a lot of people feel sorry for me because I use a wheelchair but I really wish they wouldn’t. It’s definitely an adjustment and I have my bad days but honestly my wheelchair is amazing, and using it gets me out of the house and doing the things I love so much more.
Whenever I try to walk I get severe muscle weakness and swelling in my back. It’s agony and it takes ages to recover from it. When I use a chair I get so much further and have way less pain. For a lot of people, wheelchairs are freedom. (Of course inaccessibility still sucks)
It feels so good to be able to just go out to a park and enjoy myself without worrying about whether my legs will make it or not. I love every minute of not being stuck in my bed, and my wheelchair helps make that possible way more than it would be without one.
