One of my co-workers is a 33 year old Black queer woman with a husband, a girlfriend, and three kids (her oldest being 12 years old).

She told me, “I knew I wanted to be a mom and have that energy at a young age. And I balance all of it while having a fulfilling life.”
She talked about the misconception that you give everything to your kids and family when you have them. That society and capitalism has never made a way for mothers to be able to still be moms FROM JUMP and still keep and grow into who they are as individuals.
“‘Live your life to the fullest and shape it how you envision it’. That’s the first thing I remember my grandma teaching me, and the last thing she told me before she passed. And I hold and live that dear to my heart.”

That’s amazing to me. Beautiful.
To live honestly in your skin and still have everything you want... I still can’t believe that’s possible but at the same time, here I am gradually creating it. Very gradually.

When I meet Black women who dare to dream and manifest and alchemize wtf they want.... ooh. Oooooh.
