before we start, yes i am fully aware of the shit going on. my family in puerto rico are highly aware of what’s going on. no it’s not being insensitive to help in another way.

selca days are ways for us as a community to come together as one. with all the division and violence in the world there is disunity. people come to twitter to get away from all the shit going on.
me posting or not posting a selca is NOT going to help my family. it’s not going to HURT my family. it’s not insensitive to go on with our lives. not posting a selca is NOT going to save someone from police brutality.
with cancelling them all it does is make people forget. they stop look at a carrd or two, sign a petition, retweet and move on. it doesn’t help spread awareness any more.

and yes- with everything going on why trend a selfie with a k-star? there are more important things. here’s something. selcas get thousands of views, if you link important information to your selca think of the thousands of people seeing it.
with a selca day trending + people linking information that’s hundreds of thousands of people seeing carrds, websites, petitions and such. start talking about this stuff. if you really want to help dont just say “i’m being respectful”

i think imma add smth. op has no power or anything to cancel any selca days. :/ it was a good intention but no-one is a spokesperson for a fandom. no fanbase said they were cancelled. so no selca day IS officially cancelled. :/ whether you choose to do it or not is up to you!
