Hey CA, since ballots are arriving, I want to talk a bit about why I am voting YES on Prop 22.

#1. Most (~70% in different polls) app-based drivers want to remain independent contractors for the freedom and flexibility that the job allows.
(e.g. https://therideshareguy.com/ab5-end-of-rideshare/)
#2. Prop 22 would enact labor/wage policies that are specific to app-based drivers, including guaranteed hourly earnings, mileage expenses, funds for health benefits, medical & disability coverage for workers comp, greater protections against sexual harassment and discrimination.
#3. Just because AB5 says apps have to classify drivers as employees per the ABC test does NOT mean that they will make them employees. How do we know this? It’s how AB5 has played out this year. Companies can simply limit or cap their hours, or leave the state altogether.
#4. Prop 22 is the only part of AB5, a labor law that effects so many independent contractors in CA, that we get to vote on. Last year it was rammed through the Assembly w/ barely any input from those who it affected. We finally have a chance to have a say in it.
