I know so bad, I’m going to spoil the fun, but Adderall is a medication that’s been helping people with ADHD get cognitive clarity and relief from distress for 25 years, and its popular portrayal & stigma aren’t helpful or accurate.
I wrote a book in which I detailed all the antidepressants and antipsychotics I had been on and yet I still hesitate before saying openly that I’ve been on adderall for a year and a half or so
I was hesitant to start taking it because I’ve been sober for 5 years but my doctor explained that it wasn’t going to feel like DRUGS. It does not give me a feeling that resembles a high at all. And that’s typical.
Ugh typo in my first tweet
I learned about adult ADHD from the internet, including this website, so let me offer it to you. It doesn’t fit the stereotypical patterns described in pop culture. Good to know for yourself if you have it, good to know to help you understand other people. https://www.additudemag.com/adhd-in-adults/amp/
This book isn't about ADHD except in the ways that it is: I use the essay as a space where the beauty of diffuse, meandering, ever-pivoting attention can be fully realized without being forced into focus. https://twodollarradiohq.com/white-magic/
