Considering how much effort University staff have been putting into preparing remote learning & teaching, you get the real feeling that loads of HEI& #39;s aren& #39;t willing to train & support it to be done properly, they see it as, temporary, planning back to "normal" in a year 1/5
This is utterly wasteful, and missing a great opportunity. Even when Covid does go away and we can do more face to face, the idea of putting all your eggs in the undergrad full-time school-leaver market is foolish. We& #39;ve done the hard bit, we& #39;ve shown remote/blended works. 2/5
For only a little extra effort and support HEI& #39;s could keep the momentum going and develop properly flexible blended/hybrid learning opportunities for a much wider demographic, more part time, more modular, more flexible. 3/5
This would be a huge step towards supporting the "lifelong learning" that all HEI& #39;s pretend to support. Make it easier to actually be a lifelong learner. Open up higher education to more people. 4/5
Or, we could have invested all this time, energy, money, and goodwill into developing systems & skills that we only use for 1 or 2 years, then revert back to what we were doing 6 months ago, because it& #39;s the way we& #39;ve always done it.

My preference will come as no surprise. 5/5
