I'll personally be forever grateful to whoever votes YES on controlling cannabis. It's a life saver for me. I have Crohn's disease, it's a bowel disease that causes severe ulceration of the intestines. Opiate pain medication causes complications. It works but makes it worse. 1/
I've tried to gain access to medicinal cannabis. In two different cities, in the first city my doctor asked if I knew how to access it for other patients. Green fairies never reached me, so I didn't know. I had to use opiates while working as a software engineer. Very hard. 2/
I dont know how to explain Crohn's disease pain. Opiate medication helps, but the complications have led to situations where I have stopped eating, bowel motions were like digesting and pooping out razor blades. People with Crohn's know what a real 10 in pain is. 3/
The problem with opiates is that they cause more scar tissue to form due to constipation systems by pressing hard into the ulcers as food digests. Cannabis doesn't do this. This scar tissue builds up till our intestines close. I've had this happen once, and lost 30cm of bowel.4/
A hemicolectomy (the removal and reconnecting of intestines) is the most painful surgery. I spent 48 hours in absolute agony despite being on ketamine and fentanyl. On top of the pain I now need lifelong supplements to replace functions the removed intestines performed. So... 5/
Please Vote Yes. Cannabis works incredibly well as safe for pain relief and had been shown in very limited trials to actually cause the disease to go into remission well beyond a placebo effect. Yes means you might save further operations for me. That would be life changing.
