this might be a controversial take but i think monosexuality labels simply were not designed to account for the existence of trans and nonbinary people
like they're clearly rooted in "sex based" attraction, not gender based attraction, so you have a bunch of people who fit the criteria for, say, heterosexual attraction but who do not identify as the opposite sex
like it's highly unrealistic that as a homosexual or heterosexual person you're *only* going to be attracted to binary cis and trans people because there are many nonbinary people that can fit your preferences while still being nonbinary
for the time being i think it's important to treat them more as vague guidelines than a rule
