Self-awareness described as driving a car:

You need to be familiar with the car = With the body & mind

Acceleration, Increasing speed = Action

Braking, Decreasing speed = Inaction

Throttle & Brake to progress & avoid hazards = Action & Inaction, to progress & avoid problems
Grip, the small patch of tyre touching the road = Grounding, the small slice of time, the present moment

Grip used for steering and/or braking. Too much of either results in a skid = Grounding, awareness in the present moment. Too much past or future results in disorientation
Drive only as fast as you can safely stop = Act only if you have the ability to pull back and not risk ruin

Scan the road ahead for clues (brake lights ahead, might be a hazard) = Awareness of information in your present moment, read the signals (Someone's facial expression)
Using clues of road, prepare for the expected and unexpected simultaneously = Using information from senses, prepare for expected and unexpected simultaneously

Check warning lights of car = Awareness of signals you are run down, tired, overwhelmed, stressed, anxious
Service car to keep it running at peak performance = Awareness of your nutrition levels, sleep, fitness, de-stressing

Great Driver = Awareness of the machine and its interaction with the world

Self-awareness = Awareness of body, mind, habits and its interaction with the world
