One of the misconception people have is that just because someone is queer (me) it would be easier to be queer affirmative counselor.. well no it's not. The mainstream psych is from a cis het lens, I have to search books, literature specifically and keep updating myself.
Not to mention I have grown up in the same cis het system I am still unlearning and dismantling my cis het lens.
Doing QACP accelerated the process and yes I did get a lens from professionals who are in this field with years of experience.
I did work hard to acquire that lens and to integrate it.. so that now it's a part of me and I am able to queer all that I read.. that it's in me.. and I cannot not critic something that would hamper the discourse
So if I am on your face for being queer affirmative so be it... I have worked hard to acquire this skill and it didn't come overnight. Not to mention it is very personal.
The reason I will suggest everyone to do QACP because it will accelerate the process but the work doesn't end there.
A course shows you the direction but what you do with it is upto you.
