Friends can abuse you just as much as partners, if not worse. The manipulation, the double standards, the abuse of your kindness, the one-sided energy, the entitlement. Absolutely horrid.
And theyâre harder to leave because you genuinely start to believe thatâs just how friendships are supposed to be, when actually no. Youâre being taken for a mook. If the friendship isnât mutually beneficial, run.
Youâll be trying to explain it to someone else and theyâll just think youâre being difficult or youâre lying, simply because they donât understand. And so then, you start to question yourself because maybe youâre the bad guy. Maybe you deserve it. Which you donât and arenât, btw.
And these are the kinds of friends who will pretend to be the most amazing friends and say âI never wrong anyone blah blahâ meanwhile theyâre taking you for Hovis bread. Itâs the cheek for me. A real slap in the face.
And the gaslighting?????? Donât even get me started on that part. Everything to make you look like a liar. Hm. Certain âfriendsâ can be beyond wicked.
Worst part is they know youâre probably the best friend theyâve ever had. Theyâll even tell you once in a while how grateful they are for you. And when you try to end the friendship, theyâll find ways to manipulate you into feeling like you have to stay. I promise you, you donât.
Friends can really ruin your life, man. I donât think itâs spoken about enough.
Jesus is the only friend who will never let you down - He couldnât even if He wanted to
