My friend told me that friends of theirs invited them over for a dinner party last week. My friend was like, nooo, that’s a bad idea, coronavirus is spreading fast and we’re all supposed to stay home. They were like, oh true, makes sense.

Guess who invited them for drinks again?
I get the impression from my friend that that’s the end of that particular friendship. A line has been crossed. You can’t put your friends’ lives in jeopardy like that through some combo of foolishness and a sense of being above it all and just expect to go on as usual.
It really is NOT sinking in for a lot of people. Another one of his friends from Toronto wanted to “drive down to see you next week.” Um. No?
A friend from Ottawa I haven’t seen in a couple years asked to come stay at the farm for a few days last week. I had to politely say no and explain why, but I wanted to be like, WTF???

Who are you people?
All the people I’ve mentioned in this thread are in their early-40s to early-50s. Two people in this age group died from COVID-19 over the past couple weeks in Ontario.
