Thread.

I warned @ToddSmithPC last summer that they were poised to way under-spend.
I said it to his face.

He didn’t listen.

They chose to leave families waiting, when they had the money just sitting there, and time to spend it. https://twitter.com/bowker_john/status/1313143191500095488
I attended the “listening event” in Ottawa last August.
It didn’t quite go the way @ToddSmithPC had hoped, as the attendees chose to control the narrative.

I had a few minutes to speak directly to @ToddSmithPC.
I told him that there was no way they could spend $600 million based on their current plan at the time.

Many were skeptical the amount was even available in the first place, but the Minister insisted it was. https://twitter.com/drpmonaghan/status/1163621389699600385
Their goal was said to be 5000 Childhood Budget cheques, which I pointed out to @ToddSmithPC wasn’t a lot of money. How did they plan to spend the rest? It wasn’t clear.
This was before the advent of Interim One-Time Funding, which were basically still Childhood Budget cheques ... but with fewer strings attached, and less commitment to provide any kind of continuity of care.
@InfoFAO was kind enough to point out the underspending back in March of this year, but it was too late for @ToddSmithPC at that point.
There was no way to spend the money. They were just going to have to say they invited families to “apply” for funding, and call that spending. https://twitter.com/jessiecatherine/status/1235242012896563202
This pattern of behaviour from the @fordnation government has been disgusting.
They are constantly over-promising and under-delivering.
With the well-being of vulnerable children at stake, you’d think they’d try harder to do their jobs.
Wishful thinking, I suppose.
Ontario deserves better than the @OntarioPCParty.

Their is no trust in this government.
Their is no accountability.

This government just doesn’t seem to care.
