Very concerning to see Russia’s Renova linked to a DC Council race. Renova funneled money to Trump via Cohen, and is now connected to a DC Council race for Ward 2, which includes Georgetown and downtown neighborhoods, & where the White House, Treasury, DOJ, & State are located. https://twitter.com/lauren_wolfe/status/1313132815542820871

surprised many when she unexpectedly won a special election last summer for Washington, D.C.’s Ward 2 Council seat where she never voted before. She’s likely financed by her father James Pinto who spends time in Mar-a-Lago where he is believe to be a member... https://twitter.com/lauren_wolfe/status/1313132816452988929
Individuals who are affiliated with a Russian company that is under US sanctions and known for Russian influence peddling, gave money directly to the @BrookeforWard2 Council campaign in Washington, D.C. https://twitter.com/lauren_wolfe/status/1313132819812626434
A company on the U.S. sanctions list for “worldwide malign activity” should not be linked to a local race, especially not in our nation’s capital. https://twitter.com/lauren_wolfe/status/1313132821523968001
Putin understands all politics is local. Americans need to pay attention that a systematic organizing of the next generation of Russian political assets could be taking place at the local level, including in Washington, D.C. https://twitter.com/Lauren_Wolfe/status/1313132822358642688
The intelligence community and the FBI continue to warn how our elections are being targeted by Russia. This is not just happening on a national level. The @BrookeforWard2 campaign for Council in DC is an example of Russian money potentially being used to influence a local race.
Ward 2 in Washington, D.C. could have an ethical scandal on its hands far more sinister than anything its prior Councilmember was involved with.
Russia is interested in American politics at every level. It is therefore our duty to be vigilant and make sure our elections are protected at every level of the ballot.

Kudos to @Lauren_Wolfe for helping expose this issue in a D.C. Council race.
Reporters interested in seeing the Moscow CableCom Corp structure, its relationship with Renova, SEC filings or connecting to the sanctions lawyers, anti-money laundering and the Russia experts who helped piece this all together, should contact @Lauren_Wolfe
