Online teaching is hard, but pales in comparison to the academic job market. Best wishes this stressful season! Some advice from a recent grad:
1. Job materials are a particular genre with their own format. Make sure to the materials of a recent grad in your field as a template.
2. Stay grounded. Find activities that can keep you sane and manage stress/insecurity/doubt. For me, that was HIIT classes. Take care of your mental health and don't internalize rejection.
3. Find a job market buddy. Someone in a similar field that you can share job updates and commiserate with, but that you don't feel too much in competition with.
4. If you have the two-body problem, like I did, make sure you and your partner apply widely. DO NOT let on you that you have an academic partner UNTIL you get an offer.
Negotiating a partner hire is easier if you both have multiple offers from similarly-ranked schools.
5. Be kind to yourself. Job committees will be racist/sexist/classist/heteronormative/ableist and/or misunderstand your project. Don't internalize it.
