Crediting Artists: A Thread
I'm sure you're aware that I already brought this up a lot in the past. The problem is a lot of people still commit the same mistakes that I have been seeing in my feed, which upsets me.
As you can see, I, myself, am an artist. I understand all of the effort and stress we have to go through, along with our struggles of being one.
First, try to imagine being an artist. Are you born with the talent of being able to draw? No. Obviously, you-

-have to work hard for it and it will take so much time just for you to get there. It can be stressful, tiring, and quite pressuring at times. Improvement will take a while unless you work really hard for it.
Now imagine finally reaching a level where you are-

-able to utilize your skills that have been built from knowledge and effort from the beginning only for others to use your art without even caring to mention your name. Some might even go as far as to claim one's work as theirs and gain more views.
Not being credited and having their art being used without permission, depending on their rules and own preference, are what popular artists experience a lot despite clearly stating it in their bio and so on. They deserve to be given recognition for what they made-
for hours or even days, which is why it's so disrespectful to them. It doesn't matter if it is your icon or your header as long as you still use their art.
One more thing that affects these artists is when they have commissions. Crediting them would be a good way-

If you want to use an artwork but can't find the original source and creator, what do you think you should do?

What if you can't find the original source? You can either ask for help from mutuals or just don't post the artwork at all. Not posting the piece is WAY better than posting it without credit.

The thing is, artists create works for their own enjoyment and for a different reason, NOT just for people to use it all they want as an object they can borrow without even bothering to credit them.
In the Re:ZERO fandom, who has been bothered by this? HaruSabin and @/rb_crr. Haru had their own works uploaded to both youtube and pixiv even when they said not to. @/rb_crr is just like other artists who don't want their artworks to be used without proper permission.
Before you use someone's artwork, please make sure to credit the artist and acknowledge whether if they allow reposts or if you should ask permissions first.
In conclusion, no matter which artwork or what you use it for, credit the artist or respect their wishes. That is all we are asking for. Thanks for spending your time reading this thread and please keep it in mind always.
Additional note: you can always come to me for help if you're having a struggle with finding the artist or the original source although I already listed the three methods that I usually go with.
