My 1st tribute has got to go to the incomparable, indefatigable, irrepressible Buffy Sainte-Marie!

Oscar award-winning songwriter, internat'l performer & tireless activist, @BuffySteMarie is known to many of my generation as "Buffy from Sesame St". /2

Though her Sesame Street days may have been before your time, w major hits like "Universal Soldier" & "Up Where We Belong" to her credit, chances are you've sung along to a Buffy Sainte-Marie song at some point over the years. /3

While it's cliché for my generation to name Sainte-Marie as an #Indigenous person of influence, I grew up w her albums in my home & it truly made a difference to my childhood understanding of #NativeAmericans as contemporary ppl.

Sainte-Marie is a member of the Cree Nation. /4

The next tribute on this thread of #Indigenous appreciation isn't for one person, but a dazzling array of different ppl who are #YoungGiftedAndIndigenous!
