A thread on Maguire:
I& #39;m commenting on this because I think it& #39;s important. Fans criticising the player& #39;s performance is fine. Those insulting him & attacking him isn& #39;t. You want the lad to produce his best, & you think the way to do that is belittling & abuse. It& #39;s not on...

Excuses are futile but Maguire& #39;s just been through the biggest ordeal of his life. His mental health will be wrecked, & he probably shouldn& #39;t be in the #MUFC team. However, as skipper & world-record defender, the urge to play will be huge. This happens to players all the time...
People think players aren& #39;t human beings, or at least, they don& #39;t deserve the empathy you might show to the people in your lives. Yes, fans have a binary approach to results, if you make mistakes, they& #39;ll chase you into an early grave. But honestly, fans need to think about this.
Maguire was made captain by Ole with the backing of the whole dressing room. It& #39;s true, I don& #39;t think his performances match that of an £80m def, but to make it personal...that& #39;s not being a supporter. It& #39;s being a child. Many of you need to think about shouting into the ether.
I& #39;ll be accused of being high & mighty, but I can& #39;t stand seeing grown men & women abuse a player whose probably at the lowest moment of his life. Imagine suffering, but also having the world on your back, with your own fans abusing you. No one deserves that. It stinks.
