#NHLJets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff says it's an exciting time to have a top-10 pick.

Always wishes he had more than four picks in this year's draft. Good cluster of players around the 40th pick, he feels.
Cap, economic uncertainty playing a role this offseason.
Cheveldayoff says he won't discuss availability of Patrik Laine, or any other player that may be available.
Chevy says as a GM, you're always open to listening. Certain level of conversation around any player on any team at any time.

Premature to say anything else.
Chevy says they are still dealing with uncertainty surrounding Bryan Little's injury.

Cap changes, especially if they use LTIR.

No change in philosophy when it comes to spending to the cap if the right players are there.
Chevy says they would like to bring some of their UFAs back. Had conversations with all of their UFAs' agents. Hopeful they can bring some of them back.
Chevy says there isn't much of a sense of what other UFAs are looking for in terms of money.
Chevy actively planning on being active in both free agent and trade markets.
No update on Bryan Little.

There are conversations between both sides coming soon.
Chevy unsure if there's a guy at 10 that could step right into the roster. Unsure who will be there. Usually drafting kids in June, and have a summer to get bigger, workout, etc.
Some players are playing right now, in Europe or in the QMJHL at the moment.

Not planning to have player at 10 to step in lineup right away. Let player make that decision when training camp starts.
Chevy feels the team has a real strong core. Looking for pieces to improve that. A couple of young players that will turn pro (names Heinola and Samberg).
Desires to be active in free agent market, and in the trade market if it makes sense and the club gets better.
Chevy says team will draft best player available at 10, regardless of position. Said mistakes get made if you don't do that.
Kristian Vesalainen has not been playing yet. No decision on that at the moment.
On Laine becoming a fixture in trade talk this offseason:

Chevy says nature of the beast. Looking at all options. Talks happen behind closed doors, ones people aren't privy to.
On offer sheets, and the potential of trying to do one, Chevy says that teams often have contingency plans in place to counter them and, thus, match them.
Chevy says by moving from 12 to 10 in the draft, there is a cluster of players they moved into, names that might fall to them that may not have been at 10.

Expanded player universe.
Chevy on Laurent Brossoit:

Great person and goalie yet to hit his ceiling on getting better. Cap, cost-effectiveness of tandem is good. Excited to have him back.
Presser is now over.
