Bakugou lost his eyesight during a villain fight.

Apparently the villain’s quirk had to do something with light, and due to an unfortunate misstep, he was hit by a flash and it blinded him.

The healing process had been a pain, but at least Deku was there the whole time.

The rough days were especially hard to get by, even if his partner was by his side. There were times where Katsuki would just spend hours crying in frustration because he kept on bumping into furniture. He obviously wanted to be back in hero work too since it'd been months.

Honestly, Bakugou just missed seeing.

He missed being able to walk around in a patrol and even do his grueling paperwork. He missed the mundane things, the things he once took for granted.

But more than all of those, he missed seeing Deku.

Sure, he could hear his voice, but he couldn’t see him, couldn’t see his smile, couldn’t see the face he usually wakes up to in the mornings.

He told all that to Deku after a particular bad breakdown, and Deku just tried his best consoling him.

He felt more fine after that.

And things began to look better for him after a few more months.

It was a lazy afternoon when Bakugou had received a call from the doctor, saying that they found a perfect donor so he could undergo surgery. Fortunately, his eyes weren’t too damaged, so they could make it work.

He was reluctant, it obviously cost a lot, but Deku just encouraged him to do it. Excitedly even.

And so Bakugou did.

More weeks pass.

He spends the healing process with Deku by his side again but instead of feeling dread and doom, he only felt anticipation and excitement. After this, he can finally see again! He can go back to being a hero properly, and he can see Deku’s face again!

The day that his bandages can finally be removed comes, and he’s guided by the doctor or a nurse so he can sit in front of the mirror while they’re unraveling the gauze. When the final rolls of fabric are kept away, Bakugou opens his new eyes, a grin flitting across his lips.

But that smile slowly drops when a weird energy settles upon him. His complexion pales and instead of the tears of joy he’s expecting, his face contorts into horrific realization.

He glances at Deku who’s beside him, smiling patiently. He has a similar wrap around his head.

Bakugou glances at the mirror again.

His eyes are green.
