I'm actually optimistic that Terence Steele can develop into something down the line, but he was a complete liability - both in pass protection and as a run blocker - against CLE. Shouldn't have been out there. #Cowboys
Bad run D from DAL here. Trysten Hill is late of his stance, which enables CLE's RG/RT to both cutoff Hill and create vertical displacement into Jaylon, who appeared to be slow playing the cutback, making him late to fill the backside A-gap.
Nice job by Dalton Schultz of feinting the block with his initial track, which causes 23 to veer inside to avoid the block, vacating his zone. Nice burst by Schultz as well to get some YAC.
Holy push-pull Batman! As Connor Williams attempts to refit his outside hand to overtake the NT, he gets push-pulled onto his face.
Like how Dak slides in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield and going through his progressions. Finds a wide open CeeDee Lamb for a TD
More bad run D. Hill takes a bad first step, so he tries to backdoor the RG and juuuust misses, leaving a runway for the RB once he cuts downhill. I think Jaylon needs to play through the RT a bit more rather than get washed outside too.
Talk about threading the needle...WHEW
A holding penalty bailed him out, but Joe Thomas just totally ignores his run responsibility here.

Guessing he's expecting PA? Still bad, whatever the reason.
Nice little rush off PA by Trysten Hill here. Takes his initial run step then immediately explodes to convert to a pass-rush. Uses a nice slap rip to attack 77's edge then a nice reach-and-run tech to trun a tight corner and draw the hold.
Funky run scheme by CLE bu Xavier Woods fits it well and is in position to make the stop but can't finish. Also, Tyrone Crawford can't get bounced outside like that vs the RT
Judging by Worley's reaction, this is on Donovan Wilson for being late to cover the flats.
Why was he late to react you ask? Because this is where his eyes were when the ball was snapped. Had no shot after that. #ItsTheLittleThings
More bad run D. Crawford and DLaw spike inside and get pinned, causing DAL to lose an edge, and Woods is slow to scrape over and replace. Diggs jumps inside for some reason.

Easy 10 yards.
Nice job by Zeke to pop the free blitzer in pass pro to give Dak enough time to hit Cedrick Wilson for the 1st down.
Michael Gallup running a post-out route from a plus-split. REALLY good job of breaking friendly toward the QB coming out of his break, especially with Dak throwing from near the opposite hash. If he drifts upfield at all, this could have been an INT.
Nice play by DLaw. Spikes inside to give room for the corner blitz and ends up make the play himself.
DAL's safeties did a poor job tackling in the run game. Missed tackle by Wilson here leads to a CLE TD.
Bad first step hurts Trysten Hill again here. Causes his hands to be late and leads to him getting easily displaced to the 2nd level.

Luckily, Aldon Smith & Antwaun Woods close down the front side, forcing the cutback into Griffen. Jaylon did a good job playing off a block too
One of the few instances of good communication in coverage from DAL. Worley passes off the drag to Joe Thomas and then looks to cut OBJ coming from the other side.

Also Lewis locks up the point-man in the trips bunch while Jaylon takes away the RB.
Little adjustment to the motion, giving CLE a clear path to the perimeter with zero edge. I *think* this is on Jaylon for not either aligning or scrapping outside. Gets stuck in B-gap with Poe.
Connor Williams eats a thunderous right hook to the face, but maintains his balance, refits his hands and wins the rep. #Cowboys
Once Dak saw that it was 2-high, he knew he was ging to go to Schultz up the seam. Can tell he did not expect the boundary safety to jump the throw to Schultz.
Nice rep for Brandon Knight vs Myles Garrett. He has Zeke's help if Garrett works outside, so he's prepared to close off the inside move once Garrett commits.
Have shown a lot of the issues Hill had vs CLE, but here's some of the good. Nice job peaking outside and then shedding inside to make the stop.
Diggs is too slow to read run and fit, giving CLE easy positive yardage. Would like Hill to play more extension so that he do a better job two-gapping too.
Annnd here's some more struggles from Trysten Hill. Awful technique taking on the double, so he gets tossed inside. Luckily Jaylon was able to beat the TE and force Hunt to bubble outside into Xavier Woods.
Beautiful job by Dalton Schultz with his stem to create a rub for Amari Cooper. #Cowboys
One of the few examples of good run D by DAL. In an Under front with Aldon as the SAM. Trysten Hill beats the TE and takes on the lead blocker, and Diggs does a much better job replacing Aldon on the edge once he spills the puller. Nice backside pursuit by Griffen too.
Really nice job by Antwaun Woods to hold his ground vs the initial double before ripping underneath center to get thick in the A-gap and make the stop short of the sticks.
Schultz has done a great job replacing Jarwin as a seam threat. Divide concept here. With the deep safety playing deep/leaning toward 3 WR side, Schultz drifts across the hashes to create a nice throwing window for Dak. Nice toughness to absorb contact, maintain the catch & score
Another nice route by Schultz. Watch how he sells an inside breaking route with his eyes before breaking outside to create separation. Schultz isn't an elite athlete, but he's doing a good job using nuanced route running to get open a few times per game. #SchultzFolks
