NEW: Dissident Republican terror groups in Northern Ireland are “resilient, and retain both the intent and capacity to cause serious damage” according to a new report from Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee.

The ISC warns that there are signs that previously disparate groups (New IRA, Continuity IRA etc) are increasingly working together.

And they are still freely recruiting young men from poor areas. The Committee compares the problem to gang culture in other parts of Britain.

Brexit klaxon

The ISC repeats well-trodden warnings that a hard border could lead to attacks.

But they also warn that Brexit “could reignite the threat from Loyalist groups”

The reasons for this are redacted.

But it could well be the prospect of an Irish Sea border.
