It’s #HospiceCareWeek! Usually we celebrate by sharing stories from some amazing hospice workers across the UK…

…but this year they've been so busy taking care of people during the pandemic that we didn’t want to bother them.
So instead, we’re going to give you some cold, hard numbers to show you just how brilliant (and necessary) the UK’s hospices are. #HospiceCareWeek
Each day 40,000 staff members work in the UK’s hospices. All together they could nearly fill up half of Wembley Stadium! #HospiceCareWeek
Don’t worry about the empty seats - they’ll quickly be filled up (and more) when the 125,000 daily hospice volunteers show up. #HospiceCareWeek
These staff and volunteers wear 29,000 facemasks each day. If you crammed the masks all together, they would weigh the same as an elephant. #HospiceCareWeek
Of course, the work doesn’t end at the hospice doors. More than 1.1 million home visits are made each day.

There are around 28 million households in the UK, so hospice workers could visit every home in under a month if they had to! #HospiceCareWeek
Still, these numbers seem tiny when you consider that it costs £1.4 billion a year to keep the UK’s hospices open and caring for people. #HospiceCareWeek
Is £1.4 billion really that much? Well, the most expensive tickets to Madonna’s gig at the London Palladium this year cost just shy of £500.

So, if you had £1.4 billion you could watch Madonna sing 2.8 million times… #HospiceCareWeek
