The story reveals some of the texts that led to Gardner's indictment. After he sends Trump's quote about "when the looting starts the shooting starts," he sends a meme that the National Guard can't load their weapons, implying they are not up to the task of murdering protesters.
Most revealing, the source says he's the one who brought up "field of fire," but says the special prosecutor misinterpreted his text about "can you feel the fire across the street still, meaning the hostility of the crowd." The reporter does not push back... (3/?)
...on this, despite the context of the text making it clear that he meant "field of fire." Jake's next texts are about the bars facing his, and the 5th rule of firearm safety. It took me one Google search to invalidate that entire argument. The reporter doesn't do that. (4/?)
Jake also sends a picture of what appears to be his guns loaded into a soft guitar case, which no responsible gun owner would use if their purpose was legitimate. Guns are illegal in Omaha bars. This, again, should have been enough for Don Kleine to press charges. (5/?)
The report also says that Jake's shotgun was loaded with rubber bullets. He had two (or three) other guns with him. Those were not. You also don't need to "clear a field of fire" for rubber bullets if you're using them right (fired at the ground) (6/7)
. @KETV and @MBandurKETV are carrying water for a racist killer and his accomplices, and the racist legal system and its agents that failed to secure #JusticeForJamesScurlock. His memory and legacy deserve better than this coverage. (7/7) (cc @JaKeenFox)
