Yesterday I visited the Jockey store in Thakur Village, Kandivali East Mumbai. While leaving, I heard a couple, husband and his pregnant wife, arguing with the store manager. They had bought undergarments the previous day and had come to return them
because they wouldn’t fit. The store policy is always clear on return of undergarments , that if you open the packing and try them, they are not bound for exchange due to hygiene reasons and now thanks to Covid19 there is a sanitisation angle to it too. The store manager politely
refused and explained to the couple that it would be possible and also the reasons. The lady took off on the poor guy and started abusing and threatening him and shouting loudly told him that she will complain to the police and put up videos on social media how a pregnant woman
was being abused and manhandled and said that she will file a complaint. The poor store manager was petrified. When I tried to pacify her, she started abusing me so I backed off. The was she cornered the store manager who was just doing his job was alarming. She was abusing
her position of being pregnant to bully everyone in the store and threaten them with complaints and cases unless her undergarments were exchanged. The poor guys had no option to give in knowing fully well that the money (almost 4000rs) would be cut from their salary. I told them
that if they need any help just in case the lady files wrong cases or complaints against them, I will back them up because I witnessed the whole abuse firsthand. It was amazing how well educated people,in this case a pregnant woman, abuse their power on powerless simple people.
